If you’re new to Massachusetts, the rumors are true— Boston “happy hours”, as you may know them, are banned. While you may not snag reduced-priced suds by beating the night crowds, there are plenty of wallet-friendly food specials. Here are our five favorites in Boston and Cambridge.

Tapas for $5 or less? That’s right! In Boston’s South End neighborhood, discover Estragon’s “Tapas Blitz” menu. Every Monday through Thursday from 5 to 7pm, enjoy $1, $3 and $5 tapas. Delectable “happy hour” tapas at this Boston gem include Queso De Cabra (Warm Goat Cheese & Tomato on Toast), Calamares (Mini Fried Calamari Sandwich), and many others.
