With Halloween around the corner, now’s the time to make plans. Before completely filling up your schedule with costume parties and haunted houses, check out the famous West Village Halloween Parade. Here are three reasons why you should attend:
Simply put, the West Village Halloween Parade is a feast for your senses. Admire thousands of creative and outrageous costumes worn by parade participants and spectators alike. Hundreds of oversized puppets, 53 bands performing live music and so much more, are sure to entertain. Go with a date or a group of friends – maybe even stop by a local happy hour beforehand to get in the spirit!
Whether you’ve been perfecting your clown garb for months or need a last minute party store visit, the Halloween parade is the place to be seen. If your costume stands out, attendees may want to take a picture with you and you’ll want to take pictures with others!
If you need costume ideas for next year’s festivities, take inspiration from the parade. We’ve seen the witches, ghosts and political figures – how can you truly make an impression at your next Halloween festivity? Visit the parade and make a mental note of your favorites.
The parade begins on 6th Avenue, North of Spring Street, and ends on 6th Avenue at 16th Street. Many head to 6th avenue early to reserve a spot as the area becomes crowded during the parade. The official parade run time is from 7:00pm to 10:30pm. If you prefer to stay warm and cozy inside, local New York City news channel NY1 will be televising the event from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
