Midtown East is a quaint residential area of Manhattan perfect for those seeking a centralized location without the hustle-and-bustle of Midtown proper. Conveniently located within walking distance to Grand Central Terminal and Times Square, the rest of the city is at your fingertips. Relax in nearby Bryant Park or read a book in the famous Rose Main Reading Room within the New York Public Library. Look up and take in views of the East River, the UN, the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building.
The famous Roosevelt Island Tramway is located at the north end of Midtown East for aerial transportation to Roosevelt Island. The Tramway has become an attraction in and of itself, drawing tourists and residents from all over. For world-class shopping to suit almost any budget, head to 59th Street.
Some of Manhattan’s top restaurants can be found in Midtown East. The Oyster Bar within Grand Central Terminal is a mainstay for seafood and cocktails, while Wolfgang’s Steakhouse and BLT Steak attract the more carnivorous crowd. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, head to legendary dessert destination Serendipity 3, home of the $1,000 Golden Opulence Sundae with edible 23-carat gold. Residents say you can eat out every night in Midtown East and never at the same place twice.
Midtown East borders the southeast entrance to Central Park and is home to Bryant Park, a favorite spot for grabbing lunch, people watching, seeing an outdoor movie screening, playing table tennis or attending a free yoga class. Proximity to the Queensboro Bridge makes for an easy day trip to the outer borough of Queens as well.
