Iconic Venues to See Live Music in Boston, MA

Whether it’s date night or an evening with friends, live music is a year-round pleasure. Kick back, grab a drink and settle into smooth jazz or sweat it out at a high-energy rock show. If you’re in the Boston area, you’re in luck—the culturally thriving city is full of excellent music venues. Here are our four favorites music venues Boston explorers can check out:

TD Garden

If you want to catch a major headlining act, TD Garden is the place to be. Artists such as Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, Cher, Bruce Springsteen and others have all played Boston’s acclaimed entertainment space. Sports fans, rejoice. The venue is also home to the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics. Visit TD Garden’s website to view a calendar of upcoming events.

Location: 100 Legends Way, Boston, MA

Cambridge Symphony Orchestra

Sometimes it’s nice to strip away the spectacle of a large venue event and focus on the music. The Cambridge Symphony Orchestra provides seasonal offerings which highlight the beauty of classical music. Tickets are priced affordably too. Browse upcoming events and view other ways to support the Cambridge music community at CambridgeSymphony.org.

Location: 3 Union Terrace, Cambridge

The Wilbur Theatre

The Wilbur Theatre is a fantastic music venue in Boston, where one can see relatively well-known artists who may not be ready or are past their prime for TD Garden, but still have a solid fan base. Future concerts include Lupe Fiasco, Leon Russell & Dave Mason, Jewel, The Monkees for their 50th anniversary tour and others. The space is also a hot spot for comedians both up and coming and more established.

Location: 46 Tremont Street, Boston

House of Blues Boston

Enjoy a leisurely meal with your show at House of Blues Boston or go after that front row spot by waiting in line—the choice is yours.  Of the famous music venues in Boston, The House of Blues chain often features rock and R&B music, but check their event calendar as there are always a few surprises. The once ubiquitous Backstreet Boy’s Nick Carter is set to perform in March. If you go for the dinner and show option, try the House of Blues burger or Maine Lobster Roll.

Location: 15 Lansdowne Street, Boston

Other noteworthy options include the Bank of America Pavilion on the South Boston Waterfront for summer concerts and Middle East restaurant in Cambridge to support smaller acts.
