Your Guide to the Best Neighborhoods in Brooklyn

Over the past few years, New York City’s most populous borough – Brooklyn – has continued to be a hot spot for culture, food, art, music, and style. Brooklyn is also one of the most talked-about locales in the world.  And for good reason! Just a skip over the East River, Brooklyn has quickly become a mecca of diverse neighborhoods offering a ton of experiences, from great vintage finds to top-notch craft beer. So whether you have a day off or you want to explore the area over a weekend, here is a guide on how to best spend your time in Brooklyn.

Bedford-Stuyvesant / Fort Greene / Clinton Hill

Stroll through this picturesque area of Brooklyn with rows of stunning brownstones and an amazing community feel. Fort Greene is known for its remarkable Fort Greene Park and Bed Stuy is the hub of that “new Brooklyn” vibe. Check out art at Brooklynite Gallery and definitely visit BAM Rose Cinemas – a beautiful theatre for musicals, cinema, and plays. As for food, Do or Dine offers a mix of true “Brooklyn” grub and Baba Cool in Clinton Hill / Fort Greene is the perfect Saturday afternoon café to visit.

Bushwick

Known for its warehouse lofts, Bushwick is brimming with new venues, vintage stores, and intimate bars and dining spots. Legendary pizza spot, Roberta’s Pizza calls Bushwick home. Just a few steps away is Fine & Raw, a chocolate lab that’s known for its artisan-crafted chocolates. For nighttime, try cocktails at The Narrows or The Tradesman Bar.

Dumbo

Looking for things to do in Brooklyn but not too far from Manhattan? Right under the Manhattan Bridge is Dumbo, the ideal destination if you take a full day trip to Brooklyn. Walk across the bridge and enjoy amazing views of the city and eateries. And if you have the kids – Dumbo can be the perfect place to visit. With a park nearby and a serious candy store (Dewey’s Candy), you can’t go wrong.  Powerhouse Arena is also a must-visit. Discover a world-renowned art book gallery, boutique, and book store that always has readings, events, and a ton of things to get involved with.

Greenpoint

This small Polish area is full of great bars, independent stores, and restaurants. If you’re in the mood for an impressive brunch, visit Five Leaves. Afterwards, walk right across the street for a day in McCarren Park (there’s also a public pool for the summertime). For afternoon pick-me-ups, Grumpy Café has amazing Americanos and Peter Pan Donut has mouth-watering donuts.
