A Relocation Story
Last year, my company offered a promotion and I was elated to have the opportunity to expand my portfolio and move up in my field. There was only one hitch – I had to move my family to New York City.
With two young children and a dog, packing up my life and finding a new home sounded complicated. I wasn’t sure how to go about finding a place to live in New York, and I needed time to get a feel for the area. I was worried about living in a hotel, but I didn’t know any other options – until one of my clients recommended staying in a furnished apartment.
After some online research, I found the Furnished Quarters website and looked up furnished apartments in New York. I was amazed to discover a selection of beautifully designed and spacious homes in a number of areas that would be convenient for work and my family needs. Although I liked the idea of having a normal home life during the moving process, I told myself that it would be an expensive choice for us – and they probably wouldn’t accept pets.
Even though I thought I was setting myself up for disappointment, I submitted my information through the reservations section of the website. Much to my surprise, I was contacted by a Sales Associate that very afternoon.
During our conversation, I told them about my situation and my needs. I asked about pricing, and I was shocked to find out that a Furnished Quarters apartment actually cost less than living in a hotel and we could bring our pet. The sales associate emailed a link to all the available apartments, including a list of all furnishings and amenities.
After discussing the options with my husband, we settled on a two-bedroom furnished apartment in a convenient location near a park, grocery store, and subway stop. We could move right in with the kids and start a regular routine while we searched for a new home. I was completely on board for luxury and easy living at an affordable price. My husband and I were excited to sleep in our own room.
All I had to do was pack clothes, toiletries, and diapers. Furnished Quarters would supply everything, from the furniture right down to the pots and pans. My request for a crib and high chair was easily met, and they took care of my basic utilities, local calls, and high-speed Internet. One of the biggest surprises was that I didn’t even have to worry about weekly cleaning.
When it was time to move, we sent our furniture with the movers for storage and showed up at the address to find a beautiful, well-kept building on a residential street. I was a little worried that the furnished apartment would be a bit different than the pictures on the Internet, but when the doorman handed me the keys, I was amazed to find a clean, stylish, and inviting home waiting for my family. Everything was first-rate, from the entertainment system to the luxury bed and bath linens.
In addition to having a great place to stay, we were greeted with a handy welcome packet with all the info I needed to get by in the city. There was a subway map, bus route map, list of nearby grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, and kid-friendly attractions. They even provided luxury bath products for some much-needed "mom time."
We lived in our temporary furnished apartment for two months while we searched for our new home. I feel confident in using Furnished Quarters for extended stays in the future, and I’ll make sure my new out-of-town clients experience the same luxury when they visit New York on business.
